25 Things About Paul – in his own words
1. Chicken Little was wrong. Still, its a good idea to look up.
2. I’ve been relatively happy wherever I live. It is not the place, it’s the space. It’s taken me a lot of traveling to discover it though.
3, I’ve lived all over, but there’s no place like home. I love being home and working on a project.
4. Awareness is half the distance to change. I often say this to people, in the hope that I will take my own advice.
5. I pay attention to a whole lot of obscure details, and often miss the obvious. I work hard to cultivate this as an approach to life.
6. There’s not a whole lot of difference between being in the groove and stuck in a rut. I’m okay with being in a rut just as long as the ball is still rolling.
7. I iron my own clothes every weekday, I see it as a metaphor for life… smoothing out the wrinkles.
8. I love to cook because I love to eat, whatever to calories and cholesterol. The trick is to eat in moderation. Pass the cream.
9. I love the silence of the deep woods, the openness of a dark night in the desert, and the long horizon of the sea. I like these things by myself, and do not feel the need for company.
10. I rarely hesitate to crack a joke, say what’s on my mind, and just be myself. Its not that I don’t care what people think, it’s just that doing those things are more important to me.
11. I’m never content for long, I have never been one to sit still and watch, I like to do stuff.
12. I really enjoy a good book, especially long novels. Give me a good mystery, detective story or techno thriller. That’s about the only time I can sit still for long periods.
13. I have never watched a horror movie from start to end or read a horror story, I don’t enjoy being scared. I am squeamish when it comes to gore.
14. The best places I have lived or visited are either wild natural places or the heart of a great city. All places in between aren’t much fun for me.
15. I enjoy singing, and often burst in to song to amuse and annoy. One of the best things about teaching is you get to sing with kids daily.
16. Teaching has been a way of life for me for as long as I can remember. It is my craft, my passion, my work and my sustenance. I can not see myself ever doing anything else.
17. I am the only boy in my family, and my 5 sisters taught me most of what I know in life that is really important. They have loved me unconditionally all my life and continue to support me even at my age. This always amazes me when I take the time to consider it.
18. I would do anything for my sisters, drop whatever to help, aid and rescue if necessary. Once I drove 2000 miles to wrest my sister Jeannie from a bad relationship and brought her back to live with me, only to have her go back and do it on her own.
19. My wife taught me the true meaning of “yes dear”. That said, I would do anything for her, and the trouble is she knows it.
20. My best achievement are my children. I waited a long time to have them, and it was worth it. When I became a parent I stopped giving advice to parents.
21. I miss my dad, he taught me to be positive in life, and accept whatever life serves you up. I hope to be as good a man as he was.
22. I love to BBQ. The smoke, the meat, the beer. Its good.

25. Don’t save the best for last.
